Natural Deodorant Recipe

Creating your own deodorant offers numerous benefits, including the ability to control the ingredients and avoid harmful chemicals commonly found in commercial products, such as aluminum, parabens, and synthetic fragrances. Homemade deodorants are typically made with natural, skin-friendly ingredients like coconut oil, baking soda, and essential oils, which can reduce the risk of skin irritation and allergies. Additionally, making your own deodorant can be cost-effective and environmentally friendly, as it often involves fewer packaging materials and reduces plastic waste. By customizing your deodorant, you can tailor the scent and consistency to your personal preferences, ensuring a more enjoyable and health-conscious personal care routine.

Ingredients:

1/3 c extra virgin coconut oil
1/4 c baking soda
1/4 c arrowroot powder
4 tbsp cornstarch
10-12 drops essential oils (lavender/lemon)

Instructions:

Mix together coconut oil, baking soda, arrowroot powder and cornstarch together kneeding using your hands. This is key as your hands will warm the oil and melt it. Once combined, add in the essential oil drops and kneed again. I find it’s helpful to use a spoon or scraper to scrape it off my hands when done.

You can also try melting the coconut oil, adding essential oils and then mixing in the remaining ingredients. Store in the fridge for one hour to set.

Put into a tin or glass container for use.

Usage and Application:

Use back of fingernail to take a pea size amount per underarm.
In warmer climates can be stored in fridge. If melted due to warm climate, stir to recombine.
